I cannot find Mythril or Orichalcum ore!

So my next question, how many altars should I break?

At least 2 if you just want Mythril/Oreichalkum. If you also want Adamantit/Titanium you should break 3 for the bare minimum. If you want a good supply, you can always just fish for crates, they contain any Hardmode metals.

I would't break any, just fish from titanium/andimantite, orchalium/mytheril, and palladium/cobalt. THat way crimson donst spread all over your world.

You get them in fishing crates in hardmode

you have to do that first to make them spawn in youre world also youll need a cobalt or plaid pick

No. It will not. Each destruction will summon new ore in your world. and also new crimson/etc.
So more you will destroy - more ore you will find.
