X represents 1 treasure chest
- represents a torch or lamp used to keep them seperated between catagories: 3 chests for weapons, 3 chests for materials, 3 chests for tiles, 3 chests for ores etc etc etc.
Suffice to say, I utilize platforms to keep each layer adjacent to the next. i could show you an in-game example if you like.
From now on, I guess I'll have to plan out my storage this way from the start.
In the end, I'd recommend an area for storage that can easily be expanded if need be. That's the easiest solution.
The other option is to really carefully plan exactly how many chests for what you'll need, but that can be difficult and time consuming.
Seven chests for banners? I've defeated plantera already and my banners don't even take up two chests! Of course, my dungeon hasn't spawned new enemies for whatever reason, I also have yet to see a pirate invasion, and I've only been in the temple once (I went in there to get traps for afk farms).
Keep in mind that banners aren't only from monsters. The dungeon, sky chests, temple, hellworld, etc., all have banners, as well as craftable ones as well.
Also, another quick tip, you can use the drawers furniture item (forgot the name of it, sorry) as storage as well. I tend to use those for items I need quick access to, such as most used potions, accessory kits, health pots and such. Of course, the portable piggy bank can work for that just fine. So it's totally up to you. But planning it out, yes, that's kind of important if you're a hoarder.
Thats why I like minecraft in a seance, you can make chest sorters for lazy hoarders like myself.
Just put items in chests where you want them. When you open your inventory, there's a "Quick Stack" button near the inventory that stores items to nearby chests. And then just label those chests by changing their name.
That's exactly what I do.
