Aka Minecraft is a ripoff too, if you really wanna be that nippicky. Ofc Terraria is a standalone game and only shares the gamemechanic with Minecraft (Mining, Fighting, Crafting, repeat).

Every game can technically be a rip-off of certain other games, but each game still has its own unique elements.
People calling Terraria a rip-off of Minecraft are just trying to act cool and attempt to talk good about a game they really like, often with pretty non-sense reasons.
Accusing other games of being a rip-off of a certain game is nothing than a foolish attempt to promote that one game they like.

Honestly it's just something you shouldn't worry about. Like the people above me stated, people just want to look smart and cool saying that Terraria copied Minecraft. They both have their own specialty. Minecraft has its own servers where you can do a lot more than just mine, craft, and build. Terraria has a lot of stuff built into the game, including classes, bosses, and the wide variety of items. Minecraft and Terraria can easily be compared, but at the end, they're equal, and are only better than the other in our opinions. Some of us think Terraria is better, while others think Minecraft is better. To fight about it is just plain stupid.

On commonsensemedia, terraria is given a low rating because parents think its a rip off or the fact they give this game to 9 year olds and realizing its aimed at older ages

Exactly. They both have crafting/mining mechanics, sure, but 90% of games these days use those mechanics to at least some extent. Minecraft was originally intended to be a more laid-back, building-focused game (although that's changed somewhat over the past 5 years) while Terraria's focused much more on equipment progression and boss fights.

Players just tend to call terraria a ripoff on the account to start a fued or because they simply don't know any better. In reality Notch and the creaters of terraria resepect each others games, thats why one of the lines below the minecraft logo in the launch page (that could appear) are "You should play terraria." When launching terraria in the top left corner of the window of the game there are lines of random script that can prompt up, one of which is "You should play minecraft." Why people say things are ripoff's I have no clue (thats human physcology), but the creaters of both respected games have equal and good feelings towards eachother.

Honestly i hate those 8 year old minecraft players that say "terraria is a ripoff of minecraft" when they grow up finally realize notch also made terraria and realize that the creeper costume isnt "something notch didnt approve" but instead notch approved them and even when we give them proof "thats fake bro lol xd" or something.
