If you can't tell from the picture, I'm using actuators, since my hoik is intended to move mobs. The vertical hoik there isn't actuated, so I've been conducting experiments with actuated vertical hoiks. Like I said, I managed to get it to move me upwards, but it'll only move me up 2 blocks, no matter what configurations I try.

Problem is, I can't get my character to then hoik to the right, which is what I would need for a monster to fall into my trap.
Right now I'm tempted to just run the vertical hoik to the top of my trap and let them fall in through the top opening. I guess that would work, but I'm not so sure about flying enemies. Of course, I know the hoik at my trap won't affect flying enemies often, but I was thinking of putting more horizontal hoiks up in the air to catch them. Either that, or set up an old flying monster trap and have that lead to a horizontal hoik. Not so sure how well that would work though when I'm underground....
So my trap is worthless. I wasted an entire day building something that isn't worth crap. I have no way to get monsters into my trap, so I still have no way of doing a pumpkin moon. And no one told me. They all just sat there and laughed their asses off at my ignorance.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ asking for help online anymore. Internet's nothing but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trolls.
Fml. Guess I'll be quitting terraria again. I'll never beat this game. I've only ever beaten a handful of games in my life, the first one with cheat codes. I have mountains of games I've never finished, and never will. I'm just cursed to never finish games. When will I accept that?
I don't think trolls were the problem. I looked at it and almost posted an answer, but then realized you were using actuators and I didn't actually know how they affected it so I didn't. I don't think anyone knew Pumpkin Moon monsters were immune to hoik and were "laughing at you".
I hope you manage to take a deep breath and come back to it. I think there's a lot of fun to be had here still; with Terraria at least, if possibly not hoiking Pumpkin Moon.
Great game. Be nice if there was a way to, you know, progress and finish it.
Either way, it's not really necessary to progress. What's the next boss you gotta do? Plantera?
It can be a bit challenging single-player. If you're really feeling stuck, consider finding someone (who agrees not to cheat) to play with you.
The only other bosses I have left to do are Duke Fishron and the moonlord. Speaking of which, I tried to do the cultist, that was obviously hopeless. I was hoping to get some gear from the pumpkin moon before trying again. I have shroomite armor and the megashark with ichor bullets, if you want to know my build. I also have daedelus and holy arrows, but that doesn't help too much with pumpkings it seems. My trap progressed through the waves far faster than I can.
I've been trying to find the video I based on my design on, but I can't find it. The only videos i can find show you being up in the air for the pumpkin moon, so that only the pumpkings can get to you. Mine is based on a design where you're underground and the trap itself is above you, where you can get all the minion drops. Admittedly, I'm mostly just looking for spooky wood and I think the mourning woods drop some stuff too. The pumpkings don't drop everything I want. And no, I still haven't gotten a raven staff. I've only killed one so far, and that was sheer dumb luck. And no, it wasn't in my trap, I hadn't built that yet, I just built after I got sick of dying to them all the time. I was doing so many pumpkin moons I had to set up a pumpkin farm, because I was burning through the medalions that quickly. Oh, and I also can't kill the mobs fast enough to get to the final wave before the night ends. And yes, I start it at 7:30.
On a side note, I did find another invulnerability exploit I could use. Though i still don't know what I'm going to do about the mourning woods. Why they pass through the floor? My hoik isn't moving them, they're walking over and over the wall to get in. Why would they end up lowering in my invulernability box if they enter the trap from above? It makes no sense. Also, they seem to become invulnerable when they do that.
