Over 100 hours.. Gone in an instant.
So, After a gaming session, I saved and exited the game. As soon as I hit that save and exit button, my PC just turns off. No blue screen, No warning. Nothing. I reboot and load up the game
sometime after, only to open up to a game with my character reset to it's original skin and plain clothing. The name was also blank which struck me as odd. Same thing with my world, It's there. but the name is gone. When I load into the world, It's just a black screen and after about 10 seconds it disconnects me with a message saying Operation cannot be completed. And sends me to the main screen again. NOW, I've done the research. I've renamed my BAK file and everything. Nothing has worked. This has happened to me twice within the last 2 weeks. After the first time, I took a day and decided to restart. So I did and after about 30 hours in that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ world, The same thing happens. I am so livid right now. After almost 300 hours in this game, I get this? What the hell?!? Does anyone else have an experience with this game crashing your PC and corrupting your file? Oh and BTW no it is not an overheating issue.

Your character and world files have probably become corrupted. That happens when your computer's power supply goes out in the middle of playing. Some data is constantly being updated while other data only gets updated when you exit. If you exit your game abruptly, it can cause issues.

It may be fixable but your character and world will still be reset to the way they were before your play session. What you do is go into your Players and Worlds folders, find the character and world files you were playing with, send those ".plr" and ".wld" files to the recycle bin, and then take the ".bak" out of the ".plr.bak" and ".wld.bak" files that accompanied them - those are your backup files and they only get updated when you Save & Exit so they should be fine. If that doesn't work, you may need to start over.

Well Maomag. I managed to get the world back to a previous version. There's a great deal missing still in terms of item collecting and progression. But at least my house design is saved. It's better than nothing right? lol. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply. And with a helpful answer. I appreciate it friend!
