"The cloud file provider is not running"
Recently I had an error when hosting a server, it would get stuck on "Found Server" I tried reinstalling the game but now every time I try to open it I get the message "System.io.ioException: The cloud file provider is not running"

Does anyone know a fix for this?

So far I have tried:
1. Reinstalling Terraria
2. Reinstalling Steam
3. Signing into OneDrive
4. Reinstalling OneDrive
5. Moving Terraria to the same harddrive as OneDrive.
6. Turning off antivirus
7. Deleting all mods and tmodloader
8. Manually deleting Terraria from My Games and Steamapps

Try verifying the integrity of the game .

Well you can always try disabling cloud saves, which sometimes fixes that. Right click Terraria in your library, go to properties -> updates and uncheck the box for "Enable Cloud Synchronization".
Not sure why you played with OneDrive a bunch :P

Also make sure Terraria's installed correctly (I would uninstall Terraria and tmodloader, then reinstall Terraria and make sure it's working before you play with tmodloader again). See if any of that works.
Thanks for trying, I have verified the integrity a few times.

When googling the issue it kept leading me to OneDrive saying that terraria isn't connecting with it. But I imagine that the only reason Terraria would use OneDrive would be if I didn't have Terraria installed on my computer (Which I do).

After turning off Cloud Sync I still have the issue, any other thoughts?

Terraria shouldn't be doing anything with OneDrive at all, but I suppose it wouldn't surprise me if OneDrive is screwing something up 'cause it's just all around a pain in the arse.
Other common things that cause a crash on launch are not having XNA and .NET Framework up to date. However, if it worked before and this is a recent issue, those *probably* aren't it.
I'm not sure, sorry.
No problem thanks for trying.

Hi, I had this exact same problem and I found out that i was not signed into OneDrive. I launched OneDrive, signed in, and tried running the game again and it worked perfectly fine.
Hope this helps!

I have this problem often and its really annoying, I do know how to fix it but it will most likely happen again, it is a simple task though, Right click your game in steam > then click properties > under the tab "local files" click "browser local files" > when you are in the game files you will see a windows installer package file that reads "xnafx40_redist", run that file and click repair, this should take a couple seconds to complete. After done so start your game and give it a moment to start, works every time for me, please let me know if it helps you.
Hey thanks for the imput everyone. I found it is was because I was modding at work and at home with Onedrive running so the files would keep changing. The fix was disabling onedrive and redownloading terraria + tmodloader.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

OK so I had some trouble with tmodloader and did the same redownload and mess with OneDrive part. But after a while I just went through my files and found tmodloader 4 times, deleted it from all of those areas and then redownloaded it from steam. this worked for me and I hope it helps any one else who finds this discussion

so basically OneDrive copies it, if it didn't work after the original advice at the top, then you likely haven't found them all

Do you know by any chance where I could find any of these files more specifically?
