Safe as a backpack

So ever since starting on Terraria with console. Every playthrough, I would buy the safe, and use it as a backpack. I would put stuff like The Grand Design, Traps, Wires, and boss summoners in it and also if I ran out of space mining I would throw some stuff in it. I left my piggy bank in my house and used it mostly for coins and rare stuff, or stuff that I would use soon. I'm aware about the one tool that summons a piggy bank remotely where ever you are, I just somehow never found it on console or anything. When I play with friends I try to have them use the Safe, Piggy Bank, or the Piggy Bank tool thing, but it was very rare that they would actually use it, and it mostly would get left in a chest, then, they complain about running out of space in the dungeon or something. I was wondering, how many of you guys use one of the three listed above as a sort of backpack?

Is that not how they're meant to be used? I use the piggy bank for situational items like fishing stuff, buff potions, building/wiring tools, money, current summon weapon and excess loot when my inventory gets full. I use the safe as a to hold all the weapons I've gathered for my class just as a collection or in case I want to change what I use at times. Then I use the defender's forge to hold all the loot from the tavernkeep/old ones event. Honestly just my half filled piggy bank is generally enough to hold pretty much all the loot while exploring so I guess the other's could be seen as unnecessary.

A lot of people just use them as storage in their house as far as I've seen, so I guess not

oh sometimes i used but usually i forget, i use the piggy bank, the safe and the defender's forge

If I am going on an expedition, I carry the Money Trough (portable piggy bank) with me and I put anything that can't stack as well as anything I am not likely to get more of in there. The safe is more for things I would like to keep on that character but would not want to put away when I return to my primary world's storage.
