How to build an artificial dungeon

You can't in-game. Dungeon enemies only spawn in front of naturally-generated Dungeon Walls.

The game considers you to be in the dungeon if you're standing in front of a naturally generated dungeon wall. In the vanilla game it's impossible to place these yourself (the walls you place are a different kind even though they look the same), so you'll have to use either a mod like Calamity[forums.terraria.org] (Clothier sells "unsafe" dungeon walls that the game considers natural) or a world editor like TEdit[github.com] (can place natural or artificial walls with the placement tool) to do it.

well... In reality you can not due to you needing unsafe dungon walls and you cant get that without a mod that has them... sorry

You can create an artificial dungeon by doing the following:
Make sure you're in the underground/cavern layer
Place 250 Dungeon Bricks
Place cursed dungeon walls behind both the player and where you want the enemies to spawn.
The enemies can only spawn on dungeon bricks behind cursed dungeon walls.

To get cursed dungeon walls, just throw any dungeon walls into Shimmer.
