It's like calling Slay the Spire a card-game. Sure, it's not exactly blackjack, but if you need to explain it in 2 words that's probably your best bet because it at least tells someone that there's cards in a deck and that you probably have to play said cards to win somehow.

Pretty much. Along the lines of BreadPit, it could be seen less as copying and more like bringing certain apsects over and changing them up a bit, making them work well with new ones and ditching others. No two games are exactly alike, but some of them just nail a formula properly. It's very rare that anything is considered truly original anyways.
