Trying out mods for the first time
So I'm getting pretty close to finishing my first run (couple hundred hours later). Just beat Duke a few times, got him on farm, did the lunar event a couple of times and got pretty close on the second try to defeating Moon Lord. Then all I have left are the frost and pumpkin events.

I'd like to play a modded second playthrough on Expert and add more content for the most part, so I'd like to familiarize myself with tmodloader I guess, I really don't want to screw up my current save or characters.

I'm assuming I can at least install it without affecting my game?

Is each mod specific to a world or a character, or both? Can I install some and keep my current run vanilla, or does it simply affect everything?

I'd like to browse the list and bookmark some for later, maybe even test a few, but I'm wondering if I should just simply wait until I'm completely done my first run in case It somehow breaks the game.

Thanks!

You can simply backup your non-modded worlds/characters if you worry about them that much.
As far as i remember, they should be there when you uninstall tmodloader.

TModLoader has its own worlds and characters. Every mod uses the same worlds and characters. You can bring your vanilla characters and worlds over to TModLoader by copying and pasting the world and player file or just moving them.

Yeah I think I read that I can back them up, then all I have to do is disable cloud before placing them back in the right folders? I've seen people say it didn't work for them. Not sure if it was just the users screwing up or not..

I see, good to know. Maybe I'll give it a try later on today after beating Moonlord at least to be safe. :lunar2019piginablanket:

Why are these forums overfilled with ,,oh let's play terraria together11!1!''?
And uh, no.I don't think cloud would interfere with your backup saved elsewhere.

The names sound like the kinds I'd want. I just want to stay away from any that modify the gameplay mechanics or physics pretty much. New enemies, new bosses is great, as long as they are done properly. I'd like bigger chests tbh, sortimg everything was interesting but 40 slots per chest gets time consuming the more you play..

Well it's not so much that they are affected elsewhere but more that the game doesn't recognize them once you paste them back or something along those lines. I'm guessing I'll be fine, I've done it with other games in the past.

Well Calamity add new contens 2 new bioms 24 new bosses 1000 new items and 3 new npc
Magic Storage is jsut awesoem cuz the capacity of all ur chest gets combines so u can acces them from 1 chest btw u have a search button there so u can find it faster
Boss checklist is selfexplained like the recipe browser

Calamity is really well modded and makes the game even better
Moonlord is a tough boss but in Calamity he is one of the weakest

Yeah I'll most definitely try out magic storage I guess. I've become a hoarder in this game apparently... Hell I even keep tombstones and crap like that lol.. I have 10 different chests just for banners... ugh :steamfacepalm:
