1000 hours in 1 year?
So i started playing terraria 1 year ago but took a long break since i was bored with the game. now a week ago someone i was playing with asked me if i was a pro. i told them i dont really think of myself as a pro but he then said that i have 1000 hours on terraria. i checked my profile and i did.

is 1000 hours in 1 year normal?

There is approximately 8000 hours in a year. That is still a lot of time to invest into something. Even if you don't wish to deem it an addiction, it certainly can be viewed as a your hobby...

edit:
40 hour work week (8 hours a day 5 days a week) = 2920 hours a year.

Sleep time at up to 9 hours per day is 3285 (Can be as little as 6 hours but not lower if you wish to be healthy)

When you add on Terraria for 1000 hours, it's still quite a bit of time but most people have hobbies to fill in their time.

That's incredibly normal.
However as Infernal Delight said above, it is quite a chunk of your time.
Even I don't play quite that much, I have a job, a decent sleep schedule (for the most part lol)
And I still get around to occasionally enjoying some fine casual gaming.
Not too much multiplayer though, I tend to avoid those lest it be with per-
sonal friends.
Much like me actually, I have a lot of playtime on many of my games;
though I've played them stretched across long periods of time.
It took me nearly 2 years to reach 800-1000 hours on Skyrim (with idle time)

It's pretty addictive, a lot more for myself than I ever thought. But I think it's because the content and progression is so well spread out in this game that there is always something to do any whatever it may be, each one of those things can takes hours on their own. I think I bought this mid-june and am getting close to 250 hours lol. I'll probably spend another hundred on my second run soon before I retire I'm guessing.

It’s not extraordinarily abnormal, even if it’s a large chunk of time for one year.

I have nearly 3,000 hours logged, and have been playing for what’s going on 7 years, though I reckon a large majority of those hours were accumulated within a 3-4 year time span.

1/8th a year on a game is still surprising.

1 year is equivalent to 8670 hours so yes it is perfectly normal

I have mor than 1,800 hours in Terraria but I've been playing since 2014 when version 1.2.3.1 came out. I put in tons of hours throughout the rest of the year but then took a long hiatus. Now I am playing again, albeit not as much. What can I say? Terraria grabs you in ways many other games on Steam don't.
