Terraria stuck in slowmotion
Within my 750 hours of Terraria, I've never had a problem with performance until today. Not even 3 hours ago I was running Terraria at a constant 60fps without any drops or hiccups. I loaded up my game this time, started my world, and now I'm stuck in what feels like slow motion at 10-25fps. I've looked up plenty of solutions for this but none of them have worked. Hell, I've reset my PC entirely and it still performs horribly. If anyone knows a solution, please let me know.

Ive had this problem before and alt+tabbing usually fixed it. It felt like it was losing focus on the game and putting it as a background app while playing. Not sure what was causing it though.

The problem is still going on. I tried alt-tabbing and it didn't fix anything.

Hit esc, go to settings, go to video, set frame skip to on. it's usually on subtle by default but this occasionally causes this exact issue.

I've done this. It still runs at an extremely choppy, unplayable 20fps, but not in slow motion.

I've also tried turning every single graphic setting either off or to the lowest, no luck with any of that.

I'm having the same problem but the game runs 60fps on singleplayer but garbage on multiplayer and I have the slow motion problem too.

I'm having the same problem currently, did you ever find a solution?

Was a hardware problem. My CPU fan went out, causing extreme temperatures. If turning frame skip on doesn't fix this for you, then it likely will be your hardware. Check your temps or even do a quick glance inside and try to a diagnose a problem from there.
