Journey's End might be the 1.4 update. Really, I don't see anywhere (yet) where this is specified so it could be anyone's guess.

On the show they call it a penultimate expansion, so it's not last.

I don't think 1.4 will be the last update, either. It just seems like an awfully big update for 1.3.6 to me.

they are adding over 800 items, plus new minibiomes and enemies. This is 1.4 or 1.5

yup, from my own research in the official forums, this is 1.4 and is the final update. 8 years of wonder are finally closing with a total overhaul.
And then it's onto their next project, ports and minor updates such as bugfixes.
