Free Item Servers - Post yours here

Hello everyone. I realize all too well how tired everyone is getting of seeing threads that either advertise free item servers, offer free items, and request free items or a link to a free item server. It may not seem like it but I am tired of it as well. And I do think that being handed end-game items when you are new and/or inexperienced with Terraria will spoil your experience as well as - in most cases - largely shorten the amount of longevity Terraria will have for you. But my opinions aside, what you do in your game is up to you and you are responsible for your own judgement.

This thread is in part a project I thought up to decrease or maybe (hopefully) even halt the number of free item threads we are getting in this forum. It is in the same vein as Yetsuo's "How To Make A Server!" thread. Basically, how it will work is if you have a free item server or you know where one can be found, post it in this thread and I will edit this thread OP and list it here.

I will also "Report" this thread so that a moderator sees it and pins it. If instead it gets locked or deleted then that will be on me. If nothing at all happens then I will just delete it myself and think of something else.

I might end up doing that. Or someone else can if they feel up to it. But quite frankly it doesn't work very well. People need to see something in the forum that catches their attention as soon as they enter it. And it needs to be accessible to everyone who reads through the forum threads, not just the few who read our posts whenever we happen to find their threads. Posting a link to a guide in every single Free Item Thread we see whenever we happen to see one works just as well as posting links to the servers themselves (I.e. hardly at all). So let's save ourselves a lot of time and post our Free Item Servers and any others we know of here. If this thread ever gets pinned then no one will have any excuse for not reading it.

They should, but the fact is that if we are getting this many Free Item Threads then they obviously aren't doing that. Or atleast most of them aren't. So we can either waste our time posting link over link or even request over request to use Google and then gnash our teeth when the next thread comes or we can have a single thread that looks like what people are looking for right on the front page. It might not work. I've known other forums that have had stickies hardly anyone who could have benefited from them ever read. But atleast now there will be somewhere to send them that will save us the time and effort of searching ourselves or saying anything more.

Good question. There is a very good chance this will go nowhere and will become a big waste of my time. There may even be a time when I regret posting this thread and want to close it down. Maybe no one will post anything in this thread. I don't know. My hopes for this thread were

1. to decrease the amount of threads asking for free items and threads offering to give out free items, and consequently to save forum regulars a lot of headache over seeing so many Free Item threads;
   
2. to make things easier for for people who want free items or want to give away free items;
   
3. to make the forum a much more pleasant place to be in for everyone, or atleast as pleasant as I can make it, and give people less of an excuse to be hostile and argumentative with each other.

I do not want to encourage the practice of getting free items for new and/or inexperienced players. Unfortunately, there is not much else that can be done other than what we've been doing so far, and that isn't working well for anyone. To me, this is the next best solution because it makes things better for everyone. And atleast I am trying to do something about it other than arguing in another thread.

Unfortunately I don't know of any Free Item servers myself, primarily because I don't use them, but this is where the rest of you come in.

Click on the Download button in the top right corner, then - when asked (look at the bottom of your screen) - click on "Save" or click on the arrow beside it to "Save As" and choose where you want to save the download. Once saved, go to the ZIP file's location and right-click the ZIP file, choose "Extract Here" to extract in that location or "Extract Files..." to choose where they should go. Put the file in your Worlds folder within your Terraria folder.

^^^ A list of Terraria servers for a wide range of different purposes. There are probably Free Item servers listed here but there doesn't seem to be any categorization at first glance besides a tag system and I am too lazy right now to look any further into this site right now.

I still know not everyone will like what I am doing but I would like to request that no hate posts or troll posts be made in this thread. I know I can't stop anyone from doing that but if there was any way to make me stop being as argumentative about this topic in your thread then this would be it. Consider it a pledge on my part, if you want to take it that far.

How to connect with a server? I don't really understand what I should type in the adress and what in port.

lets say you want to go to Terraria One. put "terraria.one" in the adress, and "7777" in the port. let me know if that works for you

And go through the same thing over and over again with every new Free Item thread? I'm not sure you get how the results of that work out. Like I explained in the thread OP, Free Item threads are going to happen where we want them to or not. We aren't going to be able to stop that, neither should we have the moral directive to do that - people should be able to post whatever they want as long as it follows Steam rules. This thread follows that line of thinking and offers a solution that will still deal with the Free Item thread issue.

Good idea with this post, collect all the spam in one place, but it needs to either be pinned or bumped every so often to keep it afloat.
