^^^ If you've done any of these suggestions then feel free to disregard them.
2. I tried renaming the original but nothing seemed to happen.
3. the crash happens when i try enabling or disabling mods not just enabling all. I've tried waiting a couple of hours for the thing to (maybe) eventually load but nothing happened. when i search for mods and download them it will be stuck at 100% and not finish so i'll wait a bit before clicking cancel then the mod will download.
4. Everything works fine in vanilla terraria but when i try to play modded or even in the tmod loader without any mods it works just fine. its not a specific mod because this happens to every single mod i downloaded.
The reason why this may be happening might be because it gets stuck at 100% i have tried having my friend send mods and i would put them in the mods folder but nothing different would happen.
Now, where are you getting your mods from? Are you installing them yourself from the mod's install page or are you searching for them in-game? I don't recommend the latter option because things can go wrong there. I believe your game itself will caution you against using the in-game mod search method, but then I could be wrong there, too.
Another question: Do you have the most current version of tModLoader? And if you are manually installing your mods, are they also current?
When you rename your vanilla executable, that makes your game read the mod executable instead. That is the whole reason why you do it. So the only time when you want to rename your vanilla executable is when you want to use mods. And when you play vanilla, you rename your mod executable and change your vanilla executable back to "Terraria.exe". You probably already know this. I am only saying it to make sure.
Waiting for your mods to load is a good thing but if your mod is stuck at 100% then there is a loading problem because - if I am not mistaken - the mod should just say "Enabled" on the mod selection screen. Interrupting it at 100% shouldn't make it finish so you should only interrupt it if you want it to cancel.
If you don't mind me asking, which mods are you trying to use?
The more I think about it, the more this seems to be an issue with tModLoader itself. I would recommend you go to the tModLoader page in the Official Terraria Forums and read about any known issues there, then - if you can't find your issue - either post something on the forum or find some way to contact the creator. There may be other things we aren't thinking of yet but I wouldn't know what those might be so I don't know what else to ask about..
I do have the latest version of the tmod loader, idk if the mods matter, i just tried later version of mods, nothing seems to have changed. The mods when they stop at 100% do say they are enabled, and do work, but once i reload the game it stops working. Mods im using is the thorium, no more tombs, boss checklist, which mod is this from?, yet another boss health bar, weapon out.
I've never had this problem before, until i got a new graphic card. My card is a (Strix GTX 750Ti nvidia card.) if there are any problems with that card let me know. Vanilla terraria crashes when i press back while in the settings, if you want i can show you my crash log. If i missed a question let me know.
