Torches, Glowsticks, Flareguns oh my!

I've been putting some thought into this and I can't determine which lightsource is better than another when spelunking; I'm geared and thinking about gaining some more in prep for Wall of Flesh. Are all viable and useful to retain or are there hardmode items that can be better used to quickly light up a cave?

Get a light pet or if you don't use glow sticks for underwater and torches for anywhere.
Or just use glow sticks all day everyday and it's not littering because there organic, from jellyfish.

Torches are permant. glowstick and flarygun do have there uses but torches are the way to go. u learn to start placing torces right form the start there is no need for torches end game bc everwhere u plan to go will already be lit. with glowsitck and flargun u will have to always have to use them bc they dont last long.

I had already considered this, however I realized that the world is "blessed with ores" in unexpored locations and figure that flares and glowsticks would be handy... Now, if the place is lit up that's splendid. If it's not, then the lightpet can be woefully inadequate. I was curious if there were other methods to look forward to.

yea u didnt explore enough when u where in pre hardmode. i always explore untill map is like 75% reviele. u can always just smash more demon altars then go back and reseach areas. IF you want a brighter torche you need ultra bright torches they can be sold from the traveling merchant.

Usually i use glowsticks because they are a mobile lightsource.
