Vision Range

Is there a setting to see more/further around you? I see 3 blocks around me in the dark, but my friend sees 6 blocks. We have the same equipment since we just started and he has always seen futher than me.

He might have a mining helmet (if you've got merchant) and you can increase vision range (not in dark) with Sniper Scope whilst using guns, Sniper Rifle, and Binoculars by right clicking. Sniper Rifle and Sniper Scope are HM items, Binoculars are a rare EoC drop. You can increase it with torches, glowsticks, Splunker Potions (they highlight ores and create a little light.) Shine Potions, they make a glow around you, and Night Owl Potions, they increase vision.
