Rod of Discord. Remove it please.
the item that has a very small penalty of harming yourself or losing your health in a game shouldnt exist. it allows people to think they are good, with no skill invloved. And allows for cheating to be so easy... it also takes away the value of a new character and their time spent alive as they simply cheated in a top tier item that gives way too much value. if RoD didnt exist, players would be more friendly and less narcissistic.

Hah, clever reversal there, but to prove I'm the kind of guy that's fair, I'm going to give this post the same treatment as the post it's mocking.

The Rod of Discord is a powerful item, sure, but it's balanced by the difficulty of obtaining it. It has a 0.2% drop chance from a fairly-common Hardmode enemy in a specific biome. Not prohibitively difficult, but unless you're very lucky or spend a lot of time grinding underground hallow mobs, you're going to likely need to build a mob grinder and take steps to increase the spawn rate in order to get one.

The real problem with the Rod of Discord is when people abuse exploits to start with one. It's a very powerful item, probably one of the strongest in Terraria considering what it allows you to circumvent. Many early-game challenges are subverted when someone can point and click to teleport to a given point instantaneously, removing the need for actual dodging skills. This is why the RoD was given a debuff in 1.2.1.2, to prevent people from spamming it without killing themselves. The devs realized that unlimited rapid teleportation removed all skill from the game's combat.

For those who enjoy the game's combat, they should play without a RoD, until the point can legitimately earn one on that character. They should also consider a mod that reverts the changes made in 1.2.3 and 1.3.0.1; both of those updates reduced the amount of damage you take when you teleport with the Chaos State debuff. This makes it more dangerous, and more challenging, to use the RoD repeatedly.

Might want to carefully read what I wrote; in a lot of ways I'm agreeing with you, and taking my own jab at the guy you're mocking.

Furthermore, I stated right from the start that I made that post specifically to be fair. If I responded to his thread and not yours, he'd probably take the chance to point that out and try to dismiss my arguments in his thread on account of me being 'biased' or some other poorly-reasoned excuse.

I don't want to leave him with any opportunity to ignore the truth.

...Nevermind, here's another one. This one is slightly less dumb, but the cause of it, to mock another similar thread, puts it right in the "dumbest suggestion I've heard all year" category along with the original.
Stop fighting, guys. Things like this aren't exactly helping.
EDIT: Okay, neverMIND, this one might be dumber because OP is genuinely rude.

What i'm saying is nobody gives a ♥♥♥♥, m8. You wasted all that time writing this just for me to glance it off and think you are a triggered soul who needs only show his value by making stupidly long passages about god knows what. How does this make you feel? to valify your existence with the amount of text on your screen. Do you feel good? Perhaps you feel enlightened that you have the worthy braincells to be able to use a keyboard? Do you feel the need to masturbate to your 96wpm as you click the keys forming what only can be described as a "text wall" Maybe... Perhaps this is what the human race has lead to, you being able to write uneedingly long messages about topics that can be described in one sentence or less. Oh well, to each their own. Scum.

Woo, assuming I'm triggered. GJ there, way to actually use the old thinker. Nah actually that word and and your use of it is thought-cancer.

See, I can bounce off people's posts without reading them too, but that kinda defeats the point of a forum, doesn't it?

I haven't played Terraria for a while now. I sort of gave up waiting on TOW after the last announcement and unwittingly ended up buying a game that has everything that was supposed to be in TOW anyways. Terraria started a genre many now follow. Anyway, not even sure why I just said all that, but meant to respond to this post. Unless things have changed since I last played, I thought anyone running a server could put mods in or even make changes themselves for what they want in game, and what they don't want item wise. If this is still true, why on earth make a post like this complaining to remove an item that most want in the game anyway? If you don't want it, don't go asking to have it taken from everyone else who still wants that item in game. Remove it yourself. I can understanding bothering the programmers for issues like crashing, or adding new features, but to complain about a single item that you can take out yourself, its just plain ludicrous.

This thread isn't too much better than the "remove softcore" thread.
But seriously, don't talk to me.

You made a thread.

Are we not supposed to reply?

@ MonkeyButt, don't you now wish they hadn't? At least we won't have to worry much longer of garbage like this continuing, as School starts in another week. (Hopefully for the thread writer) This is normally their bedtime, so most likely were going to get trashtalk like this until it does.
