Where should I build my home?

I've just survived the first night. Now I have no idea where to start building a massive house for people to come stay, is it OK if I build it at spawn?

Oh yeah its fune, my house is surrounding my spawn area, and the spawn is a place of memories in my opinion. Also, try to make the house like a tree, because a tree won't look weird if you build off of it.

The forest biome for sure,you got woods to chop down and re-plant,lot of slimes to kill for gel and many other stuff,it got lot of ores . Go explore but dont go to too far

Of course any place is good,you can pretty much build a Mid-air house,with a farm totally floating . then put traps on the ground,like Lava pool .
Also you can protect you're NPC in the treehouse . Myself I used to make Treehouses and that was pretty fun .

I would reccomend moving it away from the spawn a little ways, because most of the invasions happen only on the original spawn point.

Invasions always go where the spawn point is,or where all the NPC are located . Like I said,a city mid air is the best,and a rope for go back in is the best instead of platforms because monsters can open doors and climb on platforms. unlike some,they just teleport and go through doors

They spawn mainly on your original spawn point, NPCs and beds won't change where they appear.

Build where you are comfortable building, or where you are good at building... so if you can build well with snow themed blocks build in the snow biome. :)
