Hmm, you might live quite far from each other, or one of you have inconsistent internet.
or the person who hosts the server has a really crappy PC

Then, its not a server, its a hosted game

sorry to say your friend does not have good connection.

This happens to me and and anyone that joins my servers too. It's def not my pc and not my connection. I have no idea why it does this, been doing it ever since I got the game a few months ago :/

Yea same, it's not my pc or internet connection

The problem is, in order to achieve a stable connection. All players need a good connection, while the hoster needs a strong computer like an i7 (3rd gen is OK,tested it before on a Mac) or an Intel Xeon (dedicated CPU server)

My friend lives in the same town as me so wouldn't that equal a stable connection?
And its a small town...

It is definatly your pc or your connection try flipping some settings around in terraria maybe that will help that or the person hosting has bad connection or a bad pc

It can't be. I can host servers without issues on other games, which are a lot more demanding than terraria.

Well the weird part is that it happens, at exactly 5:00 minutes after someone joins me. So it's as if a timer goes off or something, and then it decides to kick them.

try flipping the friends allowed and then back to friends allowed in the multiplayer settings
