I guess I don't understand the mechanics of hooking up a trap since nothing is happening after I run the wire and something sets off the plate.
I ran wire from the dart trap to the red pressure plate and nothing happens when something runs over it. No dart fires from the trap.
I thought maybe it required an on off switch so I ran a wire to that as well. Nothing happens even with (I assume) the switch being turned on.
Do animals not count for the red pressure plate? Is that my problem?
Use a switch and hook it up to a timer, that will solve your problem

Pressure plates aren't the best for mosh pits anyway, (ew, but that's what I'll call them for now), I always hook them up to a 1 second timer, they're a lot more reliable. (OP this is partially for you)
