Is there a mod to let NPCs figure out stairs and platforms?

I was having fun building a nice town for all my npcs, when to my shock I discovered NPCs don't know how to not climb stairs or just jump down off of them. So building upstairs to the buildings have broken all my npcs and they are all stuck in their attics. Is there a mod to fix their broken AI (I know they used to be able to use platforms and stairs)? Also does said mod break achievements?

I don't know any mods for that, but I know there is a few stair designs that actually work with NPC's. Not sure what the designs are.

Have you tried these?[i.stack.imgur.com] If not these stairs might work.

Not sure if it will work though, never used this type. The x's mean platforms and the .'s are open space.

As for the link, I have stairs set up like that in the house, but the downstairs npc gets stuck on the stairs for the upstairs npc and just keeps going back and forth trying to get to her chair.

Edit: I tried the X set up you suggested, now they can get down but not up.
