(Almost) No caves whatsoever???

My large world has NO caves, I went 3,000+ blocks to the left and found only 2 caves(that go deeper than like 20 blocks), both are in the jungle. Do you really expect me to go into a jungle cave when i have no armor?
So I tried going right. 1 cave in the snow biome which has hardly no ores and right past that is the crimson biome. So the only option I have is keep exploring thousands of blocks to the left or go into the jungle cave, so I went in and died 6+ times and found barely any ores anyways. I tried exploring farther to the left but the jungle biome just keeps going and i eventually died to jungle bats What am I supposed to do? I even tried digging straight down in a couple places to find caves and there's the occasional hole with a slime in it and no ores but that's it... I'm pretty new on PC but I played a lot on mobile and mobile has plenty of caves. Am I doing something wrong? :/

Must be a dry world.

Assuming you're not that far in your current world, I'd say the best option would be to start from scratch with a completely new world and character.

On all my worlds I've never bothered with natural caves - just dig your own way down.

Got any bombs? Wait for it to rain, farm Flying Fish for 2+ silver a pop, spam-buy a bunch of bombs, and go chucking!
