Eater of worlds not dropping loot bag or being "defeated" in only one world

It seems that no matter what I do, the Eater of Worlds never gets "defeated". I kill the last segment, and every single time there's no defeated message or loot bag drop. I've killed this boss four times on this world, and it hasn't worked once.

Oh, yes. I've tried it on another world. It worked there! Now, normally I'd just move on with my life after getting the loot bag in a different world, but I'm playing through with Calamity mod enabled where killing the EoW triggers some events. The fact that I AM playing on a modded version of terraria might not be helping, but like I said, I got it to work in a different world (still modded) first try, just fine.

I really, REALLY don't want to have to start over in a new world because of a bug. Should I just keep trying and hope that it decides to work? The corruption is so effing far away on both sides of the world, and I'm so sick and tired of running for 3 minutes every time I want to even attempt the fight which I may-or-may-not win.

Lol bruh I have no idea if I fixed this in the end, it has been so long Are you using calamity? I may very well have generated a new world.

Hey, i've got the same problem and the solution is to turn off revengeance mode

If you don't get the "Eater of worlds have been defeated" message, that mean you didn't fully beat it. If you aren't carefull enough with where you fight the boss (ex: too high in the air, too far away from corruption), it might despawn before the fight end. Obviously, this mean no boss drops (or loot bag in expert+). Either try to stay close enough to the surface (be careful if you have jump movement / wings accesories that can make you go far up), or open a big enough area underground.

This is especially true in dont dig up seed, fyi.
