Skeleton Merchant and Magic Lantern Question

If I'm reading a guide right, he restocks every day, and doesn't need to respawn, he only sells Magic Lanter at night during full moon, is it entirely possible (albeit unrecommended) to spend a few days with him until its night time on full moon, because I fear a boss will spawn or perhaps my first pirate invasion.

I found him twice relatively easily in the jungle in the same time frame (a rare occurence for me), and while I wish it was closer to the full moon than Waning Cresent (which is almost over) which means I'd have to wait approximately 5 (in game) days, assuming he only despawns offscreen, could it possible to wait with him until night of the full moon and get the magic lantern.

And no before anyone says anything about it, I'm still ways off from any of the other light pets (Wisp in a bottle or Fairy Bell items), I only have the shadow orb and I want to upgrade even if only for a few real life days (or however long it takes me to get those items/light pets.

And if it is possible, I'm fine waiting those 5 in game days.
