Is Pre-Hardmode better than Hardmode?

So i've been playing terraria for a while now and I love making fresh new playthroughs. But I always seem to find the pre-hardmode part a alot more relaxaing and fun. After hardmode, it just turns into a rush to gather souls and defeat the next boss, but I want to see your opinions on it.

That depends really, but I do agree that once you start hardmode, you want to gather drops and mine new ores to get the latest gear as soon as possible because any enemy can kill you easilly. So yeah, you can't relax, at least until you get to unlock Plantera, then you can lower the pace.

I think it's because after you unlock hardmode, most of the strong items lies on enemy drops rather than mining, so most players focus on that and forget about everything else, heck there were times me and my friends forget to contain the corrupt/crimson and hallow and build new stuff before progressing the game.
