Question about obtaining golden rod..

For fishing, lets say I got a quest for dynamite fish, can i create another character on the same world, and complete the quest again?

In a nutshell, i'm trying to get the golden fishing rod as easy/fast as possible with limited items.

you can, doesnt mean it will go to the total number of quests completed though. they are different characters for a reason.

There are two counters. The overall counter for the achievements can be increased that way but the "get $item on ## fishing quest" ones are individually character bound.

Damn, whats the best way to do the quest then? I went fishing for dynamite fish and for 9 harpyfish before I got one, should I jump worlds till I get what i need? or fish for a good amount of all the fish, then jump worlds with atleast 1 of each?

jumping worlds doesnt work as each world will give a different fish mission, best to just fish for multiples for the same mission, like when you fish for harpy fish find one at put in in your safe or piggybank and then fish for another and repeat as desired, you cant pick up another mission fish while having 1 in you backpack, this way when you get the mission again atleast you have one and can complete it right away, but there is no real easy way of doing it, gotta get one a ingame day, there is one item that will fast forward the day once every 7 days so it can help a little

You could jump worlds, but each world has a different quest per ingame day (timer only runs while on the map) and you'll need to find the angler before.

Yep. Unfortunately. Though I did get the golden rod pretty quickly, myself. Unsure if that was luck or if it just has high odds once the threshold's been hit.)

If you catch multiple fish, you may switch characters and keep turning the fish in. If its still the same day, all characters that join the world will have the same quest. Catch multiple fish by putting them inside a piggy bank each time you catch one, as you cant pick up more than 1 quest fish, and you cant catch anymore quest fish if you have it in your inventory.

One thing that I did to get it was... keep fishing! Get as many of a certain quest fish so if you get the quest again you can just give him this fish. Also, an enchanted sundial helps, since you can skip days and get a new quest.

my personal strategy is to take your gear and a sundial. make a new world find the angeler and do his quest, then use the sundial to get a new quest.
beat that quest then delete the world
rinse and repeat
