Glitch meowmere

half my deaths are from my meowmere does anyone know why. its very annoying

I've noticed that too, but only when I play multiplayer. I don't know why, though.

Sorry for the double post, but it seems that some enemies ( I don't know which) have a chance of reflecting projectiles. This could be your issue.

Theres a bug in 1.3.4.2 for somereason. You arent dying to your meowmere, its just the projectile/summon that last touched/passed you seems to claim your death, For some reason, spikes are also using regular enemy death messages

Don't attack hallow/crimson/corruption mimics while they are closed.

Its NOT a glitch, some enemies can reflect projectiles. This one for example: https://terraria.gamepedia.com/Selenian

ALSO, there probably wasn't any confusion, as the last comment was more than 2 years before yours.
