True Excalibur vs True Nights Edge
Are these really useful on their own? Obviously they're used to craft the Terra Blade, but are they any good on their own? I have one broken hero sword, and I was wondering if one of these weapons would be any good at this point of the game until I can craft the Terra Blade.

Edit: All three mechs have been defeated, but Plantera has not.

"This point of the game" You never mentioned the stage of where you're at.

My bad, I thought it was implied. Just defeated the 3 mechs, have yet to defeat Plantera.

That's better. Edit the post to say that.

Fixed, thanks. Also, it seems the Death Sickle outperforms the True Nights Edge. At least, with my skill level. Lol

But the range is awful compared to the TNE.

Yeah, you're right about that. However, I find the lack of auto swing absolutely devastating! Such a shame... but I guess that's where the Terra blade picks up! Along with damage, of course.

Honestly, I would use neither. Out of the two, I prefer True Excalibur, but TNE looks way cooler.

Why not use a Yelets? You can get one from the Jungle once you've killed a Mechanical Menace.
EDIT: Or, if you prefer swords, the Bladetongue could be a nice choice. Caught by fishing in Crimson.

I'm just fiddling around with weapons I haven't used before. It just seems that the two swords only use is to be combined together to make the Terra Blade; a formidable weapon. @Ninja I'm actually not a fan of yoyos, I find them kind of silly to be honest. But hey, that's just my opinion. I know they're good and powerful, but I prefer to use other weapons. However, I did get a Goldy Red's Throw after my first mech fight, how lucky!

Edit: Yes!! Blade tongue is an absolute favorite!

I understand. Yo-Yos are very powerful, and there's not much variety between them. Swords have been around since day one, so they have that going for them.

It's just a personal choice really. As long as you aren't using, say, a Mythril sword, every weapon is viable.

Cheers to that! But yeah, I usually don't mess with hard mode ore at all. I get all the titanium/adamantlne I need from crates, and head straight to Frost Armor. Everyone has their own play style, which is great since Terraria offers so many different paths.
