Old Man not at dungeon?

I've only played Terraria with friends, and never questioned the tactics they used to spawn bosses, because I never saw. But after fighting Eye of Cthulhu and Eater of Worlds (im on corrupt) I went to the dungeon to start the fight with Skeletron, but the Old Man wasn't there. Why?

Did you already defeat Skeletron? If you did, he will not spawn on that world anymore.
If you didn't, try saving and exiting, then re-joining the world.

I'll check, but I dont have any notable drops that Skeletron gives out in chests or on me.

Try entering the dungeon. If you can explore, that means he's defeated. If you are slain by a giant skull, that means skeleton hasn't been defeated.
