It would depend entirely on how you define "Difficulty". There is an implication that it would mean "with items available for a legitimate playthrough's for the first time one is fighting the boss" rather than a fixed reference point of progression.

In the fixed progression point case, the natural order of boss appearance in progression would also, for the most part, be the same as the difficuly order of the bosses.

But having a fixed reference point itself would impose great problems. Too weak of a progression will make most of the bosses impossible to deal with, too high would make most of them a laughingstock, and somewher ein the middle would pose problems for both ends of the spectrum.

Even the natural progression definition has its own problems, as not all bosses have a specificed point in the progression. Duke fishron would be one prime example.

There's also anothe rissue. Are we talking normal mode or expert? Normal's one thing. Expert puts skeletron (not prime) at the hard end of the difficulty spectrum. Bu ton normal he's a pushover.
Well said.
Here's my rankings (I haven't tried expert mode yet so I can only do normal mode):

Eater of Worlds:

Can easily be taken down with a Starfury by letting each segment charge at you from the ground.

King Slime:

Just stay high in the air on a tiny platform and shoot.

Eye of Cthulhu:

Can be kinda difficult in early game but once you get good ranged weapons you'll be good to go.

Queen Bee:

Doesn't really attack you directly at all and it's easy to dodge her when she charges at you.

Brain of Cthulhu:

The creepers can be really irritating and hard to hit but once you've killed all of them this boss is a piece of cake. Especially considering that he's vulnerable to knockback.

Skeletron:

Can be difficult when you first fight him but once you have a good arena and can dodge his hands you won't have as much trouble with him.

Wall of Flesh:
This guy is TOUGH when you don't have the right equipment. It's pretty hard to dodge his lasers and the hungry are JUST SO DAMN ANNOYING. Once you make it in to hardmode though this boss becomes much easier.

The Destroyer:

Can be rekt real easily with good piercing weapons or repeaters with holy arrows. Staying very high in the air could also help you dodge his attacks. If your health gets low, killing the probes will give you enough hearts to stay alive throughout the entire battle. Didn't mean to write a documentary then.

Golem:

It's real easy just to box him in since he always spawns directly above the altar. If you have a crimson world, the Vampire Knives work really well against this boss.

Skeletron Prime:

Trying to kill him is a little bit trickier and it's easy to be overwhelmed with his many attacks. But if you're good at dodging this boss will be a total walk in the park. Once again if you have a crimson world, Ichor works really well for this boss.

Plantera:

High damage and attacks really fast but is pretty slow so she can be easily avoided using asphalt. Her second form is a little overwhelming but if you move fast enough you shouldn't have to much trouble fighting this boss.

Lunatic Cultist:

Has pretty high damage and is very strategic with his attacks. Some of them are easily avoidable whereas others are much more difficult to avoid. It's pretty irritating having that Phastam Dragon following am you around too.

The Twins:

Dear god where to I start. These guys are total savages and can deal high amounts of damage especially in their second forms. They also have very high movement speed making it very difficult to dodge their attacks. Retina zero has lethal accuracy in his second stage, and Spazmatism's cursed flames attack as well as his charging attack in his second stage deal devastating amounts of damage to the player.

Duke Fishron:

Fighting this boss is a great way to make you wanna rage quit. He doesn't have much attacks but they deal a lot of damage and he cycles through them very quickly. The cthulhunados have got to be one of the most devastating parts about this boss battle. Even if you are good at dodging his attacks he charges at you rapidly at insane speeds that are almost unavoidable without speed boost. Asphalt is highly recommended.

Moon Lord:
This has got to be one of the most infuriating boss battles I have ever fought. While the Moon Lord might not have that many attacks the ones he does have are incredibly difficult to avoid and can deal insane amounts of damage. The True Eyes of Cthulhu are very accurate with their attacks and having all three out at the same time can really overwhelm the player.

Nice necro
Well, as long as it's necro'd already...

Easiest to Hardest:

Brain of Cthulu: No hp, no attack patterns, any piercing weapon and you win.

Eater of Worlds: Same as before, just goes in blocks so slightly more annoying.

King Slime: The only reason he's higher is slightly more health, and spawns crap.

Eye of Cthulu: Don't stand still and you win.

Queen Bee: Like the EoW, but just one segment with more hp. Still too easy.

Skeletron: Same as EoC, but slightly more jumping and hp.

Wall of Flesh: If you don't clear the way first, he can trap you. That's about it. Oh, and laser spam.

Golem: He can't go through walls, so just use traps to cheese him.

Destroyer: Same as EoW, just a lot more hp. Oh, and don't get hit head on.

Skeletron Prime: Make a really long sky platform, then just run while shooting backwards. Problem solved.

Twins: First actual challenge, mainly just because of the sporadic movements. Still, not exactly 'insane' difficulty.

Plantera: Big, Fast, Mean. Lotsa projectiles too. High HP. Also, don't leave the Jungle. Ever.

Moon Lord: So much HP. So much Moon Bite. So much Moon Beam. Or, y'know, making an enclosed room with the nurse and letting your Yo-Yo deal with him.

Duke Fishron: Activate the Hyper Drive! If you can manage to get a Truffle Worm, then you can summon this nutjob. Wouldn't be that bad if you could actually keep hitting him. Then, you get to the halfway mark and he says 'Screw it, ramming him to death'.
has no one mentioned martians or pirates in this pointless discussion that turned into nerds discussing things we don't care about?

I rank skeletron over wall of flesh, but i don't know if that's just because i overprepare for wall of flesh/early hardmode.

And if you can't hit fishron for anything, try megashark with chlorophyte bullets, shroomite armour and mobility accesories (good wings, frostspark/lightning boots, etc). flattens him every time. And, similarly to plantera, don't leave the ocean.

Where would you place Lunatic Cultist?

659 hours in Terraria, currently playing Terraria. Yes, we are the nerds here.

Anywho, the Title said 'bosses' not events, so that kinda rules out the Martians and the Pirates.

Also, if it's pointless, why do you care?

And I know you're going to put something along the lines of "Your right, I don't care", but then why did you bother posting anything at all?

Yeah forgot about him. I'd put him right below Plantera, as he's got somewhat high HP and a lot of attacks, but Plantera usually lands more hits since it has more projectiles and is fought underground, so there's less room to move.

Martian and pirates are not counting as a boss due to the fact they are not a singular boss, they are a huge wave of enemies and some mini bosses
