Details on Mechanic spawns
Im playing with a friend and its his first time playing. Hes loving the game and we were taking it slow so I could teach him the ropes, needless to say weve already spent quite a bit of time in the world, so you can imagine my dissapointment when we get to the dungeon and there really isnt one. A small patch of corruption in between dungeon and ocean cuts it short. However there is a single room in the "dungoen" we do have. Ive gone back multiple times and modded the area a bit to see if I can still spawn her in with no luck. If anyone has any specific details about how and where the mechanic spawns would be helpful. I just want the mechanic. I already have a different world with a dungeon for farming. I just dont want to world hop just for wire ya know.

This is from the wiki:

"The Mechanic must be saved from the Dungeon after killing Skeletron. She will randomly spawn near the player while they're exploring. Talking to her in this state will free her, and she will wander the area until she gets killed or until the player moves far enough from her."
"Although the topmost corridors of the Dungeon may be accessible prior to defeating Skeletron, the Mechanic will only be found below zero depth, and will therefore always require defeating Skeletron, except if she is found one block below zero depth, and you are one block above."

Try digging down from the supposedly only dungeon room (world generation may have caused a separation between one part of the dungeon and the other). But if there truly aren't any rooms besides the one, try to get a Depth Meter from a cave bat to make sure you're below zero depth so that the Mechanic can spawn. Hope this helps. :steamhappy:

Also try mining up alot of dungeon blocks and placing them all at 0 depth to create a dungeon "biome".

This is what I did in the dungeon, I flattened the area there was and run off screen and back just like I would to get any other NPC to spawn. Its not working, I feel like theres some info thats missing for her in particular?

The Dungeon biome requires naturally placed Dungeon walls. Whatever blocks you use - Dirt should do - doesn't matter. It's the naturally placed walls that count - the ones you place won't count.

Also turn your music volume up - the best indicator of what biome you're in is the music. Dungeon has a very specific track (you can youtube the soundtrack if you want).

Yes, I have walls set up so I dont leave the dungeon area and use the music as a marker since it leads directly into the corruption :( Like I said I know Terraira pretty well. I know this an unusual problem to have. The mechanic is one of the easier NPCs to find. Maybe thats why theres not a lot of specific spawn info on her.
Are Dungeon enemies spawning?

If not, you've a problem; if they are, just wait around.

Yeah, the only thing missing is the biome chests and the danm mechanic lol
In that case, sacrifice a keyboard to RNGesus and kneel down before your computer and pray.

Personally id be mining around alot, if all else fails, you could force spawn the mechanic in with mods. I know there used to be a few that added commands for singleplayer etc etc, was a client mod. Cant remember a name but /spawn npc mechanic did the trick. Goodluck finding a solution, otherwise a new world while annoying might be your best bet.

just keep exploring
also it helps if you have extra spare rooms so when you find them they'll teleport once you leave them

To be honest, its total BS. I shouldnt have to use mods and part of the frustrasion is the fact that we've built more than enough npc houses because its been fun just being creative, building a lot. Then by the time we found out theres no dungeon, we've already made the world our own! I could forgive this on a small world, not really but I might chalk it up to that if that were the case. This game has been out for a long time and its not the first time its happened to anyone.

You've got to keep in mind all the worlds are randomly generated. While these sorts of things can be massively reduced, to stop it happening when the array it has to draw from is so large, its basically impossible. Its unfortunate, but welcome to the drawbacks of random generation.
