Wall of Flesh on Expert Help

I've beaten it many times before. Im getting back into this game after a year and I've lost 5 times to this beast. Each time I die it has 50 or less life left. I've never had this issue before. I've killed all pre-hardmode bosses on this world. Im using Mythical Demon Scyth, Demonic Star Cannon, Beenades, and The Bees Knees, and Bone Glove. Yes, I got an road down their it goes from one end to other. I have max health, Mana, and 35 defense. Full jungle and stuff like jungle flower, shark teeth, and frostspark boots to dash from the WoF. I use the Regen potion, mana dmg potion, ironskin and have campfires on the road. IDK what im doing wrong. Each time I die one more hit would kill it. Did they up the difficulty on WoF recently or am I just bad and rusty?

you should use magic items only because you're whereing the magic set

and get the bunny mount because the WoF goes extremely fast when low

I'm using the slim mount and I do have bunny mount. I do use the Scyth as my main weapon. Should I bring in Water bolt, Fire flower, and the fire staff thingy?

The hungry respawn in expert, so flower of fire would be useless. It'll almost never hit the wall itself. Waterbolt could work, especially if you set the road with a ceiling to bounce the bolts for multiple hits (works better at the start while it's slower). Are you dying from just damage, or getting ran over from the sudden speed increase?

I keep dying from the hungrys that shoot off. Its like they pull me in.

use fish like cooked fish that will slightly boost all of your stats giving you that last edge you need

Will do. Also should I switch my Jungle armor for Wizzard hat and Diamond Robe?

Ok, so damage. Put some honey baths down. Put 2 blocks on your road, skip 2 blocks, and put 2 more down. Dump 2 buckets of honey between them, then angle each pair like this / \. As you run over them, you'll be in and out of it long enough to get the regen buff it gives without losing nearly any speed. Doesn't work so well with mounts though. I'd also ditch the guns, gloves and beenades and grab a sword just to knock hungry off of you.
Maybe also get your accessories more specified for a single type. Shark tooth is neat, but it's better for armored monsters. Switch it for a sweetheart necklace (bees + speed when hit) if you're more for speed and reaction, or maybe a mana flower (More reduced mana usage, stacks with nature's gift) if you're keen on using magic weapons.

I use mana flower already. Also I just killed it! The cooked fish worked like magic. The cooked fish, regen potion, honey pits, and campires stacked like crazy. Thanks Divusmor and TheSir your tips helped alot.
