When I started a new world i found SO much stuff on this world. If you go mining where your spawn point is youll find lots of loot. There is also a cave on the left where there is tons of loot. The desert temples are on the left as well. Heres the seed for the best starter world EVER. 1991958429

I have. I found bombs, blew up a few cacti, made a pick and went on with the game like normal.

I'm still inclined to try a no-bomb Skeletron strategy. You might be able to build a great deal out of Bones and use the Bone Welder to make your furniture.
