Molten Armor + weapon of choice.

I got good results with the Molten Fury and Frostburn Arrows.

You'll also want a decent arena to block off those homing skulls.

Well try Bee knee's, molten armor, lightning/spectre boots, cloud in a baloon with horseshoe, slime mount (use it just sometime to evade), campfire, heartlatern, Imp staff, and some potions

Long flat area on both sides of the dungeon's entrance, with a long platform at jump height so you can dodge him and his skulls more easily; campfires, heart lanterns, and small honey pools (2x1, should be enough to give you the buff but not slow you down in any significant way if you're running) along the way for regen, sunflowers to run faster.

Weapons-wise, anything you're comfortable with should do the trick. Last time I did it, I used a star cannon for his arms (took me around 200 stars I think) and finished off the head with a bee's knees (forgot to equip Queen Bee's accessory, so it could have been easier/faster).

Build a big layered arena. Take out both arms at once. If you destroy them one at a time, his homing skulls will make you want to drink bleach as you try to take out the other arm.
Use a Minishark with Meteor Bullets. Once both arms are down, keep firing at his head with your Minishark, and when he spins, smack Beenades against his head. His homing skulls will be relatively easy to dodge when his arms aren't beating the crap out of you.

Craft some Spectre Boots, and if possible, get a horseshoe.

i just use hard mode equpment and still fail it was obtained on one character then i made a new expert world to fight him so......yeah its hard
