Beat Plantera, get the key, go to jungle temple, unlock it and get inside, fight golem until you get things like a possessed hatchet, picksaw, etc.

find the plantera bulb in jungle. fight it, after is dungeon or jungle temple. I recommend the dungeon first. then go to temple, then you need a truffle worm from the blue mushroom biomes. (warning. the little wormy ♥♥♥♥'s are hard to catch)
you can fight duke fishron when you fish with the worm in the ocean.
then you can go find a martian probe to start martian madness.
or go to the cultists at the top of the dungeon *after beating golem in the jg temple"
and when you beat the cultists, that starts the lunar events.
