Fishing quests suuuuuuuuuck
This game is fantastic and I have spend hundreds of hours in it. I have finally killed the Moonlord recently and my base is perfect so I feel like I am almost done with this game. The only things I still want to do is build a cellphone and some satelite base in Hell.

I never did any fishing quest because that is boring af and as it turns out that is the only way to get the three last components for my cellphone and also the only way to obtain a Bottomless Waterbucket which I kinda need for my construction work in Hell.

The wiki says all these items only have a 1% drop chance from the fishing quest. Since I can only do one fishing quest per 24 minutes getting these items will take me another 50-100 hours and since I have nothing more to do I would be sitting around waiting for most of that time.

This totally sucks balls and is a very anticlimactic experience to an overall awesome game.

If some dev is reading this maybe consider increasing the drop chance for these items or the number of quest you can do per in-game day or put in some alternative way to get them.

You think blocking access to important items like the three components for the cellphone (which every player has use for and wants) or the Bottomless Waterbucket (pretty much required for any serious contruction work in Hell) behind a fishing grind wall (an activity not everyone enjoys) is good game design? I am not say fishing is bad, just that gating these important items behind it is bad.
They are mostly quality-of-life items; you don't really NEED them (just for conveniency, as infinite water and inventory space is always welcome). You can also trade for it here on the forums, but beware of all those cheaters.

Yeah. Or I just use an editor.

I actually like how they gated the items behind it. It gives you a sense of accomplishment when you finally get the item you want.

When I need a sense of accomplishment I do something IRL. When I want to have fun and relax I play a game.

If you wanna feel somewhat accomplished for getting those items,
just grab yourself an Enchanted Sundial,
generated a new small (expert) world,
go to the ocean, wake up the Angler and complete the quest,
use the sundial to reset the quest and do the next quest.
Now take the Sundial with you again and delete the world,
Restart.

This allows you do quicky do tons of fishing quest, since you can easily access an fishing spot for each Quest fish in pre-hardmode.

These works since the Fishing Progress is for each character (like the piggy bank), instead of the world (like boss progress), so each world gives you 2 progress with nearly no wait time.

That is actually some useful info. Thanks for that.

You mentioned Expert Mode. Does that influence the drop chance of quest rewards or crate loot or anything?

I actually really enjoy the option of a quest where I can do something chill... what bugs me most is the drop chance of certain items from the Angler. I have all except the Bottomless Bucket and the Super Absorbent Sponge and no matter how many I do they won't freaking drop.

Having the option for these quests only increases the amount of diverse content so them existing is nothing I object to. It however gets problematic when important items like the Bucket are gated behind them with such a small unreliable chance to get them.

I did what was suggested and farmed a couple of new worlds with the Sundial and I got lucky and got the three component for the Cellphone I was missing. Even got a spare Pocket Guide.

Now the last item I need/want is the Bucket and I can finish up the construction of my Hell outpost.

From what I've heard, you can place 3 blocks in a V shape, put water/lava/honey in it, and repeatedly fill your buckets, resulting in an infinite water/lava/honey supply. I might've got the instructions wrong, though.

You can just make an automated water generator in hell with pumps you know.
They never "fixed" that, just like hoiks.
Grab the water with regular buckets.

The problem is not generating the water. I could also do that with a pump setup. The problem is storing it since it evaporates in Hell. I would have to setup the storage in Caverns and then constantly go back and forth with my limited amount buckets for a refill. Due to some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the DCU I unintentionally leaked a giant lava lake in the free space I dug for my outpost. It already will be a significant work to get rid of it even with the Bucket and I not intent to make it any harder.

If you haven't, I would start a new character and play in Expert Mode. While doing so, everyday do the fishing quest. You can get the quest rewards and challenge yourself.

It's possible to get that achievment from nothing in an hour, if you're prepared to do a fair bit of complete and utter boredom (no more than usual for fishing, though).

This will do wonders for you.

Good luck with your hell thingy xD

Turns out you are wrong. I solved my problem by building a water tank in the Caverns layer just outside Hell where I store and generate the water with a pump setup and then transport it down to where I need it with another pump. I bit less efficient since one cannot distribute the water easily over a large surface, on the other hand one can just float near the outlet pump in the DCU with the finger on the button to get rid of the obsisian. But if it comforts you, you where no help at all. :P
