do crystal shards grow on pearlstone blocks everywhere or only at a certain depth/biome?

pretty sure only underground hollow on pearlstone

They start growing I think at the depth that souls of light start spawning, maybe slightly further down, their growth seems to be effected by depth and possibly darkness, I have no substantial proof for the latter.

just find your above ground hollow and dig

the reason i ask is i want to farm them, i already have plent for crafting but i want more to sell for a profit, and i plan to use actuators and pearlstone to do that, but i dont know where i can set that up and still have it work

-Get 100+ pearlstone
-Go down to where the cave music starts
-Place them in long rows where you can collect the shards
-Farm
-Become the shard king

for those curious, they spawn on pearlstone blocks in the cavern layer, not just in undeground hallow.
