Does purple moss spread corruption?
I've been dealing with a corruption problem beside my jungle, so I bought a clentaminator and started purifying all the corrupted blocks. I checked TEdit to see if there was anymore ebonstone, but I couldn't see any, so I thought I was in the clear. The clentaminator seemed to have only purified the dirt and stone blocks, but not the purple moss around the stone, but I never thought anything of them because I thought they were purely decorational. I went AFK for about 15 minutes, came back and checked TEdit, and there was another patch of ebonstone where I thought I purified anything. The only thing I can think of is the moss thats spreading corruption. Can purple moss spread corruption?

Yes, corrupted grass spreads the corruption. Hallowed grass spreads the hallow, and crimson grass spreads the crimson. You'll want to get rid of the grass as well if you don't want them to come back.

Though the Clentaminator not purifying the grass seems more than a bit odd. Is it a repeat issue?

Its not the corrupted grass, its the purple moss that grows on stone underground. It looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/xNhDGSV.png

...oh. It seems that I misunderstood you, my apologies.

I don't think the moss spreads the corruption. It's more likely that you missed a block or two somewhere in the vicinity.

The moss doesn't spread Corruption. It is common to miss a spot and have to go back. If miss even one single block, it can regenerate, but if you check back frequently, you can re-purify it before it spread too much, and eventually wipe it out for good.

Correct. Same with red and blue moss, they don't spread Crimson or Hallow.

Correct, it does not spread corruption.

If ever you're in doubt about any moss, there is an easy test. Just use purification powder on it or green solution from the clentaminator. If it stays the same, it's harmless.

Thanks everyone, I seemed to have fixed the corruption problem, for now.
