Hmm... it looks like there's crimstone or crimsand underground where you can't see it. I would suggest either using the Clentaminator to sweep the area, or just dig around until you find whatever crimstone is affecting your house.

Just remember to be thorough in cleansing it, since it'll just come back unless you really get every single block.

how do you use clentaminator correctly, as it isn't doing anything whenever I use it

Are you sure you've equipped a solution? The Steampunker sells them alongside the Clentaminator. They're admittedly expensive and you'll need a lot of them, but I find it to be well worth it.

Just a heads up: green solution removes both Hallow and Crimson while turning Mushroom into Jungle. Red solution spreads the Crimson while Teal solution spreads the Hallow. Be sure to pick the right one for the job.

Also remember that ammunition conservation works on solution, meaning that equipping a ranged armour set while using the Clentaminator can save you a lot of money in the long run.

To use the clentaminator to purify the crimson, you need Green Solution, an ammo sold by the Steampunker. Each is 25 silver coins, and are on sale when there are no ongoing events and if the Steampunker lives in a natural biome (winter, jungle, forest).

When you say that it doesn't seem to do anything, do you mean that it doesn't fire any projectiles or that you can't seem to get rid of the red water? Because if it is the latter, I wonder if you've gone deep enough, while the former is either a matter of a lack of ammunition or a bug.

Fair warning: destroying Crimson Altars has a chance of causing a random block somewhere in the world to become Crimsoned or Hallowed, and you won't know about it for a long time unless you use a map viewer. Destroy all the altars you want, but be aware of the consequences.
