Most useless items in the game

Either due to game progression or simply just because they suck, what's a really bad item that you will never bother obtaining?

1) Putrid Scent. 5% increased damage and crit strike chance? I can get that on modifiers. -.- No, I'd much rather take the Crimson equivalent, the +7 defense of Flesh Knuckles.

2) Fossil Armor.
It won't beat WoF, so it's not great, but BoC/EoW must be killed to get it - Desert Fossils require a Nightmare or better pickaxe to mine. As such, by the time you've killed those nutters on Expert (minus some boss abusing tactics) Fossil Armor is completely and totally useless.
(It was nerfed just before 1.3's release when Red saw some guy murdering EoC with it. Of course you should be able to murder EoC with it - as it's waaaay past EoC tier).
It's also very dangerous to get.

3) Crystal Serpent Crystal Vile Shard
In Hardmode, everything has too high defense for this to be of use at all. It also hogs up an otherwise useful Hallowed Mimic drop

4) Gold Armor
Waaaaaaay too much effort to get. For the same amount of effort, you can whack the orbs in the Corruption/Crimson and get a meteor to spawn, and thus get Meteor Armor which is far superior. Gold Armor just isn't worth grinding

The worst "upgrade" ever, to a very undeserving weapon.



The Gravity Globe -

The entire thing that makes gravity potions fun is switching around in midair. Nobody wants these ridiculous constraints.



Cursed Flames -

Flower of Fire upgrade? No dice.

-hot lava fishing rod thing that fishes in lava
-same for the flaming koi and obsidian fish

dungeon guardian pet= why even did they make it a thing? You literally have to kill an enemy that is supposed to be a barrier and can one shot you

sucpicious tenticle=same reason why also a thing? its an endgame item that really only works for pre-hardmode or below. Not only that but the treasure lantern does a better job, even highlighting the ores and stuff.

hallow wood armor= at that point why even use it?
it wouldve been nice if maybe wearing it gave you an effect like all hallow npcs leaving you alone so it would work just like royal gel for slimes

I like things like the bone key that are seemingly useless but i have to agree that the most useless item are pearlwood armour - Why would you want it in hardmode

Blade Of Grass the only reason you get it ts to get the Night's Edge and the weapon is immediatly overshadowed by the Fiery Greatsword (The Blade Of Grass not the Night's Edge)

Excalibur and True Excalibur. They're both ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing swords sure, but lets be honest: everyone's just gotten them to make the Terra Blade.

The Crystal Serpents main purpose is being a hardmode weapon that you can get without any effort or risk, I find it useful to start of with by using it to farm for better stuff
Saying it's useless in hardmode is like saying the wood sword is terrible in softmode. It's an item there to help get by the rough part

The Crystal Serpents main purpose is being a hardmode weapon that you can get without any effort or risk, I find it useful to start of with by using it to farm for better stuff

But the other Mimic drops are great. The Daedulus is 9001x better than the Crystal Serpent, and has the same drop chance. Also, the Flying Knife is about 9x better than the Crystal Serpent.

Meanwhile the Corrupt/Crimson Mimics drop the amazing Dart Rifle/Pistol, which because you can craft the ammo by hand turns the Underground Corruption from a nightmare into a slaughter. :D

The crystal serpent is not a mimic drop, it is obtained by fishing so that defends it very slightly. And it is pretty enjoyable to use.
