Manual Save-File Edit

Okay, long story short: game crashed, didn't save properly, a whole chest (which I had just crafted in my home) disapparead.

Is there any way to manually edit the savegame so that I can replace at least the most important items?

For sure there is way to do this, but there are easier ways to get your items back. What did you lose?

Mostly Platinum; there were a bunch of other ores, but the one I'm concerned about is platinum.
