Respawn Timer?

My friend respawns in 6-10 seconds while I respawn in 20-30 seconds.
We are playing in Hardmode and he has NO items to help him respawn (If there are any).
My question is why does he respawn in so fast? He always had this fast respawn time.

Your player's respawn timer is longer if you get killed by a boss, even more so if you are in expert mode.
The wiki page[terraria.gamepedia.com] for expert mode states that general respawn time is 15 seconds, while boss-death respawns are 30 seconds.
I don't think this is accurate though. I've died to expert mode bosses plenty of times and the respawn timer doesn't feel like half a minute long.

Also no, there aren't any items that decrease your player's respawn timer.

I host the server he plays with me on & I don't care for the framerate drop. Everything framerate related is seemingly halved, so getting killed by a boss takes 10 years to respawn me.

Terraria is a douche, so I always respawn as soon as everyone's dead.
