Static Hook Or Lunar Hook?
Which Is better Post Your Thoughts Here I prefer the Static Hook over the Lunar

A Static hook is much better for resseting your fly timer while maintining your direction of flight you can mainintain your distance from the grond or wall while flying up in a stright line trying to do that with any other hook results you being "pulled" into the wall and having to fly out again.
B Static is good for bosses enemy mobs cause you can grappel from a celing/wall and *strafe* while attached to the hook and shoot the enemys.
C it has the longest range of any hook and has 2 of them which you can use to easily nagivate yourself safely around obsticles due to being able to precisly control the distance away from the hazard and being able to shoot another to change direction easily.
D static is good for building it makes it able to hang yourself presicely in the air while builing around you.

Not Really

I wish there was an endgame dual-hook style grapple. A grapple that has multiple hooks that can be fired at once, but only one can be actively hooked onto a surface. The only end-game hooks we have are an Ivy-hook style one that will grapple onto multiple surfaces, and the Anti-grav hook that doesn't work like normal hooks, but brings you 12 blocks away from the actual hooked location.

Why would you want that ?

it should also be noted that the hook also functions as a....moderate light source during its use...

Because with dual-hook style grapples, you can grapple onto a location, then grapple onto another, which cancels the first one automatically. You'd have to jump every single time with a hook like the Lunar Hook to manually cancel the previous one.

Static hook does this once you shoot the second hook and it grappels something the first one cancels.

just use a slime hook
Lunar hook is fine by me - if I want to stay in the same spot for building I'll just press R for my Fishron.

Xelor are you still on?

alright...to end the discussion ive done some testing. now to be fair this is directly left to right and without anything in the way. In the picture are 3 different torches. the Cursed Torches (purple) signify the Lunar Hook and its range from the center and the center cursed torch is the rough place where i did alot of my testing.

Anyway, the green torch is the Static Hook and the area around my character from the full extension toward the right and downwards.

The Ultrabrights on the right of the picture were with the Anti-gravity Hook with the middle cursed torch being its initial range and the Ultrabright boxes being a rough range of where you would land if the hook connected on surface. Keep in mind that i aimed the hooks through the wood and not on anything leading outward. The ones on the left were a mistake that i made and should be ignored.

here is the reference picture. http://i.imgur.com/2ucLITG.jpg

None of it is an exact science either and should not be taken as such

Also In my opinion the extra range of the static hook is better the light the lunar hook gives is neglibable due to the fact light pets exist having a good light to give light makes the light the lunar hook gives off useless and is better suited for the static hooks range.

And As I said the static hook has alot of other utility uses that you cant do with the lunar hook and having more then 2 hooks is useless in the game you never need it .

Static is also nice cause you can suspend yourself and go afk with only 1 mintion to protect you.

Static if you want to build, grind stuff (enemies or bosses in which you don't need too much mobility), fish or something like that.

Lunar if you want to fight bosses. All hooks besides Static and Anti-Grav pull you towards them, so if you hit space when grappling, you will gain a lot of speed, way faster that just normal wings could make you fly (besides Lunar wings I think) (Anti-Grav pulls you, but then stops so it's a lot harder to gain speed with it). So, if you have Solar/Vortex/Nebula/Stardust Wings, not recommended.

Not Really the problem is with the lunar hook is you cant use it to reset your flight timer very well hooking a wall or ground imeditely pulls you to the the surface forcing you to fly away from the object you hooked the static hook lets you hook any surface while maintining your distance from the floor and ground and be able to fly in any direction.

I meant horizontal speed, I often use it in bossfights from EoC to pretty much Plantera, to get that horizontal movement and dodge just like with Tabi. Also non-Static hooks can give you vertical movement if you pull yourself to a platform above you. Though I personally prefer Static Hook, especially that EoC drops Shield of Cthulhu, that gives you a similiar dash to as you would with the hook. Only problem comes if many enemies are around you (WoF for example, if you get swarmed by the hungries, and dashing away will just bounce you off into the WoF mouth).
