They're literally the original Flash games from back in the days of yore, patched and packaged up and compiled for desktop machines. Classic Flash was never able to take advantage of a user's GPU, so all the load was placed on the CPU - particularly with vector based games that used more maths calculations to draw animations, like S&S did ( the Redux versions use Starling, a diff tech.)
It's not something that is possible to fix, Flash as you know being basically 'finished', there's never going to be GPU enhancement. So yeah, sadly many old Flash games (these included), can create significant load on the CPU , even though it doesn't look like much is going on - particularly when running in 4x the resolution like many monitors have these days.
If the game run's poorly for anyone, my best suggestion is to change the in-game resolution to one of the lower settings which should have a marked improvement on performance - though of course, they're capped at 30-40fps as the classic ones always were.
Thats what happens when u buy a laptop mate, i got a pc with a 4770k and my cpu never gets used much
