Embark
Tutorial and Stockpiles
Had this game for quite some time but not really played it till recently. Although straight away i'm up against either a bug or something I'm not understanding.

I just started a new game and part 2 of the tutorial it tells me to select 'Prepared food' as the stockpile source, except there is no 'Prepared food' I've also tried creating a stockpile named this but I can't seem to get past this part of the tutorial to figure out hoe to even play the game .. Any help would be awesome thanks! - I've tried having a google but there's not really too much information on the game :(

When you hit the stockpile button a window should pop up. Within that window, there should be a dropdown box where you can select from the pre-defined stockpile settings.

Once you have that selected you can then drag out a stockpile on the ground.

Hey hey, Thanks for the reply. A drop-down does indeed appear, however there is nothing within it that says 'prepared food' whichever option i select, the tutorial popup (The one saying choose prepared food) doesn't go away. I'm pretty much stuck at this point.

(Edit) I started a few new games and the latest one I had did have the option of 'Prepared food' available in the drop down. The problem now is that when I select it, and even if i create a stockpile nothing happens. It still tells me to select the option ... I have no idea what's meant to be happening at all.

It's hard to say. If you have ever edited them, that seems to stick. So while they are "default", the defaults aren't locked. If you did indeed change them (accidentally even), then it may require a deletion of the game, and then re-installing. May also need to make sure any files not deleted by Steam are deleted as well as I do not know where such info is stored. Could be it's only in the save file, could be in some config file the game creates.

Honestly I'm not a huge fan of exactly how the stockpiles work. It is hard to sometimes configure them to hold just what you want. Especially once you start taking the materials used to make things, which is part of the setup of those stockpiles. There are definitely some upsides to the system, it seems like it should be able to have very precise settings, they are just not super intuitive.

You may be able to go watch a Let's Play of Embark and see if someone does it correctly just to see how it is supposed to work.

I know the youtuber "BeardedGamer" (or something like that, was doing some videos for Embark at one point, and is actually (or was at one time) un-officially helping the dev. So his maybe a good place to start. I haven't watched them, so I don't know for sure if he goes into fine details like that or not.

Thanks :D

I actually bought the game maybe 2-3 years ago, This is basically a fresh installation with no edits to anything. I'm really just trying to progress the tutorial so i can figure out how to direct the people to 'do things' I built a stockpile and set everyone's job to max and they just wandered around .. think I may just uninstall it and give it another shot if it's patched in the future :(

Thanks for the help though, I'll go and look up some youtube videos of gameplay and try to see if my games broke or something :D

I've also tried creating a stockpile named this

If the original stockpile got corrupted somehow by the addition done by you, you can find the file C:\Users\Owner\AppData\LocalLow\Embark\Embark\userConfig\StockpilePresetInfo.xml, delete it and verify game files to get a new one.

You can also check with basic notepad does the file have "Prepared food and drink" in it.

(note that AppData might be hidden folder by default and you might need to set it visible from folder options to see it)

If the original stockpile got

Thanks for the reply, I tried this and restarted a new game, When i got to the part in the tutorial about choosing the 'prepared food' pulldown, same thing happened. It wouldn't progress past that point ... Just not going to bother with it - thanks though, appreciate the info :D
