About lava...

I have made a colony far in the north so temperature goes down to -10 in winter. A few fire place raise temp by 2-3 °C but its far to be enough. Im thinking about pumping or build an aqueduc to get lava as a source of heat.
Can pump be used with lava?
How far lava can heat the surrounding rock?

I've not tried with lava, but the pumps I built can't move salt water. Think they're only set to move fresh water at the moment, so no Dwarf Fortress style lava engineering at the moment, I suspect.

build better quality walls ..and deeper .
roof need to be a few block height.

got a -15° winter on a temperate map, after making the roof thicker and upgrading walls (even compacted dirt) it was at +10° min inside with one fire place per room

Right.. if pump cant pump saltwater it wont pump lava i guess...but on water view, lava is identified as fresh water unlike saltwater.
Anyway, i started a new game and currently building base deeper( lvl 50)
I will hurry up wool production for cloths too..
Theres lave close by, i will try pumps later

I have a base in -9 under the Alps each room is lava heated by a (U shaped ) trench running along the roof. This game ROCKS!

How far is the lava from the room(in square distance)? bcs lava is 2000°C.
Did you try to pump it or just used gravity to move it?

i did not pump it, i just built channels like a U with a gap above the lava on one side and vents for heat. PS nice base.
