the only way i can play is by hosting it myself and people who are compatible with my connection will be able to join that happens within 1 minutes. ( i say compatible as not everyone can join you)
to be honest. the game joining error is a bit random as sometimes it allows you to join some games; other times it doesn't. but if you create it they can join you 85% of the time)
i would say call your provider and tell them to unlock it their way. it should work. am not bothered to go that far
i played with my brother in the past. we both on same connection different rooms. he xp me windows 7. i have to host and he doesn't and can join anything other than me sometimes that is!
esembles studo has been disbanded by microsoft long ago. so they couldn't update the game to be compatiable with the new operating system. am sure microsoft would not find it liable to do it ether as it is just not worth their time. microsoft may have done little changes to the game.
such a great game, lost because of big brother! cya
-first check fire wall. you will see everything on aoe should be allowed if not enble it!
-find aoe3 game folder under bin, count the applications and look at the names (should be 5)
, go back to your firewall . it should show only 3/5 files. missing too
the fix is simple log in as admin and add the remaining 2 files to your fire wall. making it 5/5 files.
don't know why the firewall do not pick up those files automatically. but the game works perfectly after this is done. if it is still not reading do the same to windows firewall
trial and error by my brother picked this up. lucky!!
this is also my last hope.. tried everything i can find and it still doesn't work
follow below!!
go to (my computer>program files(86x) > steam> steam apps> common> Age of empires 3> Bin)
- scroll down you will see 5 applications= age3, Age3Launcher, age3x, Age3xLauncher, age3y
open your firewall and go to allow programs tab.
add all the above files 1 by 1, all 5 of them and enable to allow or umlimited.
make sure you see all files under allowed save and close the window. start the game and it should be working perfectly untill you back date the system or new computer
if you want i can make a video and put it on youtube. but it will be on my firewall meaning. you may not be able to follow it the same way, but the files should be the same
the above is all you need to do.
3 of the files is picked up by the firewall and is instantly allowed by itself
2 of the files won't be picked up automatically causing the fail to join error
. good luck and have fun
my 2 pc's was fixed the way i explained above. they both run the game perfectly. hope you get it running soon
Already did the port forwarding and the firewall stuff
Windows 10 here
I believe thats what worked, even after all the steps I took that didn't work.
I think they also got new servers recently in the past years.
