Can't connect to the same game as a friend
I share a wifi with my roommate and we both love tis game.

But we're unable to join or create a game if we're both trying to get into the same game.
Any help?

I needed to set my router on DMZ mode for multiplayer.
But cant you play on LAN with your friend? then he will find your game.

we tried LAN, but it didn't show up. We'll try DMZ mode first before looking into LAN again.

Any other solution like port forwarding though?

Since your on the same network could it be your antivirus?

What ports are required for Age of Empires III?
The following ports are required for Age of Empires III, and manually port forwarding them is recommended for improved internet connectivity.
2300-2310 TCP
2300-2310 UDP
80 TCP & UDP

Also does your friend has a legal version ?

We both have the steam complete edition, we have no problems with AOE2, its only AOE3 that we experience these problems. All our other games work fine together, just AOE3 being the only problem.

We'll try out what you recommended and see how that works, thanks!

Alright we got it working, for some reason, when we switched to 1 guy connected via ethernet and another via wifi, the problem disappeared.
