Asian dynasties china campaign causes crash

Everytime I try to start the china campaign it crashes, i try to verify the game integrety which always says there is a file missing which it seems unable to redownload!

What is this for a joke? How am I supposed to fix it when even reinstalling doesnt work!?

I'm having the same issue with video crashes, specifically between the 2nd and 3rd Japan missions and the 1st and 2nd China missions. My India campaign seems to work all the way through with no crashes.

The problem is that these videos never load and so I can't ever get to the mission itself. Had this problem 6 months ago on my second playthrough (no problems with my first), but ended up playing other games for awhile.

Have tried uninstalling and re-downloading twice so that's not the issue here. What else could cause this to be buggy?

I have this problem too. I ran the Verify Integrity program and it says that a file is missing. But it doesn't correct itself. It says that it will reacquire the file, but it doesn't. It happens at the mission called CLEARING THE ROAD in the Japanese campaign, and so I can't move on to other missions. I can hear sounds playing for a few seconds, but the video is black.

I have another form of crashing, Japan very first mission, trying to save the game just causes it to not respond and stall forever. First time it did it, I had to alt f4, but it actually saved even though it didn't give indication of it. Second time, it didn't save, I had to alt f4 and lost progress.

Hopefully the rest of the DLC isn't like this. :(

Ok, so I found two possible solutions. One for hard difficulty players you can try all missions, another specifically written for Clearing the Road, but can (probably) be used for all other missions too if they're crashing. The second fix is from the link posted, I just found an archive from it.

Possible Fix:
Change the mission difficulty from hard to easy, start the campaign, then change it back to hard once you're in. It makes no sense, I know, but this apparently fixes it for some.

Possible Fix:

"One File is buggy age3yjc3.age3Yscn "Clear the Roads Script"
"age3y"(asian dynasty)"jc"(japan campain)"3"(third level)
1st close the game if it is open
then go to the installation folder in steam
Drive:\Steam\steamapps\common\Age Of Empires 3\bin\Campaign\Wonders
double click on age3yjc3.age3Yscn and select open whith
Drive:\Steam\steamapps\common\Age Of Empires 3\bin\age3y.exe
the Game will start and after the intro it loads the scenario.
without any errors or crashes
Finally close the game and start it normal with steam."



Personally, second fix worked for me and first one didn't. If you don't care about playing on steam (or if that steps fails for you) you can just outright play the scenarios like that but you won't have your custom decks so it'll be much harder.

Hey, when I try opening it by double-clicking it says that I can't open it because it is an archive. Any clue what I am doing wrong?

You don't double click it, you need to right-click, open with, then navigate and select age3y.exe.

I haven't played in a while, but this should still work.
